    Vortex Edge

The affordable, portable simulator for classroom instruction

Meet the Vortex Edge

The Vortex Edge simulator is a compact and flexible laptop-based training tool that connects to your classroom display.

The Vortex Edge comes with your choice of training packs for cranes (rough terrain mobile crane, luffing tower crane, flat-top tower crane, crawler crane) and heavy equipment (excavator, backhoe loader, wheel loader, motor grader) — choose only the equipment you need for your organisation.

The Vortex Edge enables you to:

  • familiarise trainees with interactive machine components
  • demonstrate operator and worksite best practices
  • provide a hands-on experience before moving trainees to the real equipment

Why use the Vortex Edge?

Show instead of telling

If a picture is worth a thousand words, the Vortex Edge is worth a thousand training videos.

That’s because the Vortex Edge allows you to operate virtual heavy equipment that’s engineered just like the real thing, so you can demonstrate all aspects of machine behaviour, from machine components to how it behaves under the stresses of operational conditions.

Easily boost your training program for today’s trainees

The Vortex Edge is a fast, simple, and affordable way to boost your classroom training program.

It gives you all the interactive benefits of simulation, while providing the kind of engaging hi-tech learning that today’s generation of trainees have come to expect.

Ready to go, right out of the box

The Vortex Edge is a portable tool that you can start using immediately.

It’s straightforward, simple, and robust – no messy calibration procedures required. In just minutes, you can begin to illustrate operating techniques, provide hands-on equipment demos, or show how to handle adverse conditions and machine faults.

Loaded with learning materials

Developed in collaboration with heavy equipment schools, the exercises included with the Vortex Edge complement your classroom theory with the same industry-leading learning materials as the immersive Vortex Advantage simulator and the desktop Vortex Edge Plus. This includes:
– A basic controls exercise, which guides trainees through machine functionality.
– A free operations exercise, which lets trainees lift various objects (cranes) or excavate and carry material (earth-moving equipment).
– A skills challenge exercise, which can be used to stimulate competition between trainees and benchmark their understanding.
All crane training packs include lift plans and load charts.

Portable, versatile — and looks great on you

The Vortex Edge can be used for self-paced learning on trainee desktops, or for instructor-led classroom instruction.
Its portability also makes it perfect for trade shows and recruitment events, where you can use it to assess the general hand-eye coordination and aptitude of prospects — while demonstrating that your organisation is at the forefront of cutting-edge technology.
