CM Labs, ST Engineering Partnership Advances Workforce Simulation Training Solutions Throughout Southeast Asia.
Building a more efficient workforce to address current challenges in regional ports, construction, and defense sectors
Montreal, QC, May 19, 2020 — CM Labs Simulations, developer of Vortex® training simulators, today announced a strategic partnership with ST Engineering, a global technology, defence and engineering group, to drive the growth of enterprise simulation training in Southeast Asia. As a leading provider of professional-grade training and simulation solutions, ST Engineering will provide regional representation and its technical expertise in modelling and simulation to support CM Labs’ provision of training simulators to enhance training for various industries, including defense, construction and port/marine.
Against the COVID-19 pandemic, enterprises are turning to training and simulation solutions to rapidly upskill their workforce and build future capabilities. With Southeast Asia home to three of the top 20 ports in the world, countries in the region, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Singapore, are investing in port upgrades, automation and expansion to increase operational capacity. This however, requires a skilled workforce to undertake more advanced job activities including operating more sophisticated equipment. Simulation training addresses this gap by leveraging innovative training systems that incorporate immersive technologies and virtual reality to hone skillsets and elevate performance in an effective and cost-efficient manner. CM Labs’ Vortex simulators are known for their high accuracy of physics-based simulation for heavy equipment, including grasping, container loads, cable systems and earthmoving operations. The Vortex suite will complement and expand ST Engineering’s existing simulation offerings to a wider audience group in the region.
“ST Engineering is a natural fit for CM Labs,” said Jean-Pierre Lee, Director of International Sales for CM Labs. “We are excited to collaborate with such a reputable organization whose vision and competency align with that of CM Labs; and we look forward to a rewarding venture for both companies. While we are naturally excited by this partnership, the true beneficiaries are current and future CM Labs clients throughout Singapore and Southeast Asia. Now clients throughout the region will have direct access and support to the world’s most robust and realistic workforce simulation training solutions.”
“Our partnership with CM Labs allows us to extend training and simulation solutions to the maritime, construction and defense industries to help them build a future-ready workforce that’s capable of embracing new and advanced operational processes. This will go a long way to help workers stay relevant in a post-COVID world,” said Tan Yuh Cherng, General Manager of Training and Simulation Systems, Electronics, ST Engineering.

This partnership further solidifies the global presence of CM Labs. Headquartered in Montreal, Canada, the company now provides expert set up, training, and support to its growing client base throughout North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
