Vortex Studio Essentials, Free Version of its Professional Simulation and Visualisation Platform

New edition opens up access to integrated simulation tools for land and sea applications to a wider audience

Montreal, Canada, November 28, 2016 – CM Labs Simulations Inc., a global provider of immersive simulation solutions for training and virtual prototyping, revealed today Vortex® Studio Essentials, a free and open license edition of its Vortex Studio platform. Vortex Studio Essentials provides a complete unified simulation and visualisation environment for simulation-based training development, virtual prototyping and academic research. It includes access to Vortex Studio’s core simulation and visualisation engine, user-friendly desktop applications and comprehensive SDK. Vortex Studio is designed to help simulation engineers quickly create training and prototyping applications for equipment operations on land and at sea. It goes beyond the limits of game-engines to provide a professional-grade, integrated and distributed simulation platform.

Vortex Studio is the solution of choice for training simulation integrators developing ground vehicle and maritime training solutions for defense and commercial industries. Leading companies such as Thales, BAE Systems and ST Electronics use Vortex to deploy advanced training systems. Vortex Studio is widely used by the world’s top OEMs such as Liebherr, Volvo and John Deere to build virtual prototypes of off-highway equipment for human-in-the-loop as well as control and automation systems testing.

“With Vortex Studio Essentials, we’re providing access to professional-grade tools and multibody dynamics simulation to everyone looking to build their own training simulators and virtual prototypes” said Marc-Alexandre Vézina, Product Manager at CM Labs. “Going beyond game-engines, this will raise the bar for the level of fidelity and ease of use customers expect of their simulation and visualisation platform.”

Vortex Studio Essentials provides access to Vortex Studio’s core tools, such as its intuitive desktop applications, engineering-grade multibody dynamics engine and integrated visualisation system. It also includes access to advanced simulation features, such as components-based vehicle powertrain modeling and motion-platform integration. Vortex Studio Essentials can power simulation systems ranging from local desktop environments to multi-channel simulators.

From Nov 28 to Dec 2, attendees at the I/ITSEC conference in Orlando, Florida, can experience Vortex Studio at CM Labs’ booth (#2270). For a comparison of Vortex Studio available editions, please visit cm-labs.com/essentials.

Availability

Vortex Studio Essentials will be available for free download in Q1 2017, alongside a new website featuring extensive video training materials, documentation and sample mechanisms and environments. A new community section will also connect users with other simulation creators, allowing them to share ideas and content created using Vortex Studio.
