Training both new and experienced operators on the competencies required for loading and unloading the world’s largest container ships, CM Labs’ innovative megamax STS crane simulator training provides valuable seat time in a virtual megamax crane.

Reaching as far as 24 container rows deep, the simulation includes features and the environmental challenges required to learn how to work in deep container pockets. Competency Based Training

By training complex skills that are unique to working with extra-large ships, the Megamax STS crane simulator training is intended to lower the number of safety incidents, improve ship turnaround, and ensure that the actual equipment is being used to its maximum potential on the quay. Operators will benefit from:

  • Progressive, skill centric learning programs from skills familiarization to advanced lifting techniques
  • Multiple load types, from 20′ to 45′ containers to breakbulk to liquid storage containers

True-to-Life Simulation

Using specifications, load charts, and other information from crane manufacturers, the simulated crane was designed with a 30-meter span, a 56-meter water side outreach and a 22-meter land side outreach, accurately reproducing actual crane dimensions and the resulting behavior under various conditions and load scenarios. It accurately simulates:

  • Hoisting, Gantry, Trolley and boom functions
  • Dual spreader system (20’, 40’, 45’ and 2x 20’ containers)
  • Smart slowdown and sill-beam protection systems.
  • 2D camera feeds for working in deep ship pockets
  • Integrated container management system
  • Gantry Anti-collision system.
