Montreal, November 28, 2017 — CM Labs Simulations Inc., a global provider of immersive real-time simulation solutions, announced today that the Vortex® Studio Essentials edition of its simulation platform has achieved global penetration, and tallied hundreds of downloads by leading organisations and institutions since its launch a few months ago.
Vortex Studio Essentials provides free access to the simulation and visualisation software’s core tools and capabilities. Developers and engineers can get started with Vortex Studio for commercial or non-commercial applications, with the ability to model highly accurate contacts, collisions and vehicle systems with true-to-life performance and behaviour.
Vortex Studio is the solution of choice for simulation integrators in the defense and heavy equipment markets, powering over 1,000 simulators across the world. It is used both as a prototyping tool for robotics and off-highway vehicle engineering, and to develop applications for driver training, logistics and lifting, and maritime piloting and offshore training.
New features introduced to Vortex Studio Essentials since its launch include support for VR, an intersection and raycast sensor extension, and support for several advanced anti-aliasing options, such as Multi-Sample Anti-Aliasing (MSAA).
Faster dynamics calculations have also been enabled, via Vortex Studio’s new Partition Optimiser. Enabled by default in the Dynamics Module, the Partition Optimiser automatically shapes the data before it is fed into the solver, speeding dynamics calculations by up to 40%, with no loss of accuracy.
Since its launch, leading organisations and institutions all over the world have leveraged Vortex Studio Essentials, including Battelle, Carnegie Mellon University, Coppelia Robotics, Honda Research Institute, Komatsu, Thales, Ubisoft, and the US Department of Energy.
