CM Labs Partners with BISim to Demonstrate Vortex Studio Integration with VBS3 at I/ITSEC

CM Labs Simulations, a global provider of simulation and visualisation solutions for personnel training and virtual equipment prototyping, announced today that I/ITSEC attendees will have the opportunity to drive an LAV III vehicle powered by Vortex® Studio, embedded in a distributed VBS3 solution from Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim).

“By demonstrating how easy it is to integrate Vortex Studio’s SDK into VBS3 for the creation of ownship simulators, we’re really demonstrating the accessibility of high-fidelity, cost-effective software solutions for tactical military training,” said Arnold Free, CM Labs’ CCO. “Effective driver training programs can now be up and running in a fraction of the time, with none of the headaches typically associated with disparate technology integrations.”

Vortex Studio is a world-leading simulation and visualisation platform designed to create true-to-life simulations of land and sea equipment and environments. It provides the industry’s highest-fidelity real-time vehicle simulation for driver skills development. With this degree of simulation fidelity, vehicle behaviour is emergent rather than needing to be scripted, which means the amount of software development required to create driver training simulator applications is significantly reduced. Other time-saving capabilities built into Vortex Studio include robust, intuitive tools for vehicle modeling, building, testing, and validation.

VBS3 provides a multiplayer, virtual training environment for land, air and sea training and mission rehearsal applications. It was selected by the U.S. Army as its flagship product for its Games for Training program, and has become an industry standard in game-based military simulation. BISim software products are used extensively in over 50 countries to train hundreds of thousands of military personnel per year.

“I/ITSEC is an ideal venue to demonstrate integrations with our partners that add value for our customers,” said Cory Kumm, VP Corporate Development, Bohemia Interactive Simulations.

“Visitors will experience first-hand a fully integrated and cost-effective high-fidelity LAV III driving simulator. This simulator was produced as a joint effort within a few short weeks to demonstrate the effectiveness of both Vortex Studio and VBS3 for integration and the value of a turnkey training system that uses VBS3 as the platform for visualisation, large-area terrain, and CGFs, with a robust workflow for creating highly accurate vehicle dynamics via Vortex Studio.”

The simulation will run on CM Labs’ Vortex Advantage simulator hardware, networked with other simulation stations on the BISim booth as part of a larger joint operations demonstration of role-based training.

Vortex Studio is used all over the world for vehicle driver training. It supports the development of virtual training systems for tactical and non-tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as for logistics and engineering equipment.

The interactive simulation will be on display at I/ITSEC 2017, on Bohemia Interactive Simulations booth 2235. For more demonstrations of training applications built using Vortex Studio, visit CM Labs booth 1620.
