New Internal Transfer Vehicle simulation allows apprentices to gain vehicle and trailer control skills and learn how to safely interact with terminal lifting equipment.
Montreal, QC, June 1, 2018 — At TOC Europe 2018 (Stand D40), CM Labs Simulations, the world leader in simulation-based port equipment training, will unveil their latest Vortex® Simulator-based training solution for horizontal transport of containers, the Internal Transfer Vehicle (ITV) Simulator Training Pack.
Available for demonstrations at TOC, the ITV simulator training pack features a fully functional, simulated ITV. Operating in a container terminal environment, the training pack provides apprentice operators immediate hands-on experience in both driving and managing trailers.
“Cargo needs to move fluidly from quayside to yard and vice versa, and as such, ITV drivers are the lifeblood of many ports,” said Nicolae Sterescu, CM Labs’ Port Solutions Product Manager. “ITVs interact with almost every piece of equipment in the port, and skilled operators lay the foundation for safe and productive operations.”
Built on the highly realistic Vortex Studio simulation and visualisation software, the ITV Training Pack provides a structured set of scenarios designed to accelerate skills development.
In combination with any Vortex simulation hardware platform, the training pack delivers an immersive experience based on the behaviour and mechanics of a real ITV tractor, including an accurately modeled 5th wheel trailer connection system with a maximum load capacity of 34,000 kg. Along with instructor-triggered weather events, machine faults, and traffic, the ITV training pack offers an environment that progressively challenges students while concentrating on specific skills development.
“Ports around the world are seeing major efficiency gains and training cost savings by training their staff on Vortex simulators,” said Arnold Free, Chief Commercial Officer, CM Labs. “The ITV training pack will accelerate horizontal transport training and produce workers of a higher standard without disrupting live operations.”
