Introducing the Vortex Port Equipment Training Suite. When your operators train on a CM Labs Simulation System, they gain the real world skills they need to operate port equipment safely and efficiently, which means a lower risk of incidents on the work site and more confident operators. In addition, a well-trained operator can dramatically improve machine productivity. With Vortex Simulators, port equipment operators gain valuable experience in a safe environment with no machine wear and tear and no risk to themselves or others.
From the Instructor Station, you can monitor the entire operation, introduce faults, change the weather, and perform post op review with the crew. It is a complete learning platform. Each exercise records operator metrics that are designed to objectively measure operator efficiency and accuracy. Metrics include time to complete tasks, number of pendulums, and collisions, and more.
Work sites are very realistic and simulate the challenges of a busy terminals such as other equipment, and operators operating nearby, and distractions such as crane and ship sounds, other vehicles, and two-way radio communication. Trainees experience lifelike visual effects including shadows appropriate for the time of day and year, and weather effects such as rain, snow, and fog. The three degrees of freedom motion platform responds to operator controls in order to reflect equipment movement, vibration, impact, acceleration, and emergency stop positions and reactions. Vortex is not a game. It simulates real work, real terminals, and real equipment down to validated and accurate simulation of all cables slings and equipment components. Vortex Simulators include interfaces to correspond with load indicators trolley positions and Container Management Systems. Rigging and hoisting cables are simulated using actual engineering properties so that they behave appropriately as lines are placed under tension or the load released. From the hoist drum to the load, all cables are simulated with engineering grade fidelity. This means that all load pendulums, snags, and collisions occur just as they would in the real world, providing valuable experience to students without endangering them or others.
You can't afford downtime when you're training your operators, that's why Vortex Simulators are designed for maximum reliability including the highest quality display systems, and shock-mounted industrial computers. We build all Vortex Simulators using ISO 9001 2008 certified and audited processes. Vortex Simulators feature authentic seating and controls from port industry suppliers. Hot swappable controls make it fast and easy to switch between control sets for training on many machines. It takes just a few minutes to swap controls, and start training on a full fleet of terminal equipment in the Vortex Training Suite.
Our Vortex Port training Solutions include modules for empty container handler, reach stacker, rubber tired gantry crane, straddle carrier, and ship pedestal crane, as well as `training modules we can tailor to your equipment and processes.
Vortex training can be installed on any Vortex Simulator Hardware Platform, whether it's the entry-level desktop Vortex Trainer, the multi-display immersive Vortex Master simulator with motion, or a containerized solution that brings the classroom to your trainees.
Vortex Simulators are used around the world by industry-leading equipment manufacturers, trade schools, and port terminals. They are a proven and effective training tool for building real skills and safe work sites, and improving operator performance. The realism and accuracy of Vortex Simulators ensure that operators are learning real world responses to real situations and skills that transfer to the terminal. At CM Labs, we believe that simulation-based training in combination with classroom theory, and training on the work site is the most effective way to build safe and efficient operators.
