VT MÄK Selects Vortex Studio Essentials to Power Vehicles and Physics-based Simulation for VR-Engage Multi-Role Simulator

Vortex® Studio’s free and full-featured simulation platform edition to provide VR-Engage users with engineering-grade vehicle simulation and beyond.

CM Labs Simulations, global provider of immersive simulation solutions for training and virtual prototyping, today announced that VT MÄK, a company of VT Systems, has selected Vortex Studio Essentials to power high-fidelity vehicle simulation in their new VR-Engage multi-role virtual simulator.

Vortex Studio Essentials is the free edition of CM Labs’ Vortex Studio unified simulation and visualization platform. Vortex Studio is designed to help simulation engineers quickly create virtual training and prototyping applications for equipment operations on land and at sea. It goes beyond the limits of game-engines to provide a professional-grade, integrated and distributed simulation platform.

Designed for training simulations as well as research applications, VR-Engage allows users to adopt the first-person perspective of a vehicle driver, gunner or commander, airplane/helicopter pilot, dismounted soldier, or other human character.

“Our goal is to maximize training value for VR-Engage users, so we were really looking to leverage the highest-fidelity real-time vehicle simulation on the market,” said Len Granowetter, VT MAK’s Vice President, Products and Solutions. “Along with straightforward integration and flexible deployment, that made Vortex Studio a natural fit.”

VR-Engage users will also be able to download the free Vortex Studio Essentials edition to create their own vehicle and equipment simulations for deployment in VR-Engage, or to edit the existing vehicle simulation content.

Vortex Studio Essentials provides access to Vortex Studio’s core tools, such as its intuitive desktop applications, engineering-grade multibody dynamics engine and integrated visualisation system. It also includes access to advanced simulation features, such as components-based vehicle powertrain modeling and motion-platform integration. Vortex Studio Essentials can power simulation systems ranging from desktop environments to multi-channel simulators. Vortex Studio will be available for free download in Q1 2017.

“We’re pleased that a simulation and training industry leader like VT MÄK is adopting Vortex Studio Essentials,” said Arnold Free, CM Labs’ Chief Commercial Officer. “As simulation becomes a pervasive training and prototyping technology, more and more companies are using Vortex Studio as a platform for simulating physics-based vehicle and equipment operations.”

Attendees at the I/ITSEC conference in Orlando, Florida, can experience Vortex Studio at CM Labs booth #2270 until December 2. VT MÄK will be demonstrating VR Engage with Vortex Studio vehicle simulation at booth #1048.
