CM Labs Simulations to Showcase Immersive Professional-grade Simulator at TOC Europe 2017

At TOC Europe 2017 (Amsterdam, June 27-29, booth C54), CM Labs Simulations will showcase an immersive Vortex® port equipment simulator, running ship-to-shore (STS), rubber-tired gantry (RTG), and mobile harbour crane (MHC) training modules, and more.

Vortex port equipment training simulators

Vortex port equipment training simulators have been proven to help trainees learn operator skills quickly and safely, thanks to their realism and accuracy.

The realism of the simulators is powered by CM Labs’ Vortex Studio simulation software. This software simulates the real behaviour of cranes, rigging, cables, and loads, validated against empirical and engineering data.

Vortex simulators are in use at terminals all over the world, from Flinders Adelaide Container Terminal (FACT) and Napier in the Asia Pacific, to Tacoma and LA/Long Beach in the US.

They feature training scenarios that can be adapted to specific equipment, terminal operations and objectives.

Other features include:

  • The ability to run multiple operator training modules on a single simulator
  • Scalable from desktop to fully immersive
  • Hot-swappable control sets and pedals
  • A motion platform that allows trainees to acclimatize to the movements of real port equipment prior to operating the real thing

The widest range of port training exercises in the industry

CM Labs’ full catalogue of port equipment training modules is ready to run on any Vortex simulator, and include STS crane, MHC, rubber-tired gantry (RTG) crane, ship pedestal crane (SPC), and more. Each module assures complete, effective simulator training, thanks to progressive learning exercises, objective trainee performance metrics, and best-of-class equipment simulation.

“We’ve never been able to put trainees out onto the vessel as prepared as the students who have come through the Vortex simulator training,” says Tony Couzner, Training Superintendent, FACT. “It’s straight out of the sim, and into productive work on the real crane.”

TOC Europe attendees can visit booth C54 to test drive a Vortex simulator, or book a demo online.
