Transforming Crane Training

ITI Partners With Industry Leaders to Revolutionize Crane Training and Safety

At ITI (Industrial Training International), the recognition that industrial work practices are evolving and there is a corresponding need to reconsider training methods let to emerging technologies and tools that can be used in the process. In addition, it also drove development of the ITI Virtual Reality Crane & Equipment Training suite in partnership with original equipment manufacturers, including Liebherr, Link-Belt, Tadano and Terex.

Introducing virtual reality (VR) to the training and evaluation of crane operators, the company noted, can significantly reduce costs, accelerate competency and attract the next generation of workers.

The goal for ITI and crane manufacturers for the ITI Virtual Reality Crane & Equipment Training suite was to provide an experience on par with operating the exact machinery each simulation was designed to replicate. As a result, varied scenarios and virtual crane simulation courses offer a range of challenges in a virtual experience that is indistinguishable from the real world.

The ITI Virtual Reality Crane & Equipment Training suite provides courses on nine crane models and more than 1,000 scenarios.

At CM Labs Simulations, a provider of simulation-based training in the construction, utilities and port industries, a new next-generation simulation training system for heavy equipment operators is aimed at improving workforce development and the ability to deliver, manage and experience training more effectively and efficiently.

The Intellia Intelligent Training System, from CM Labs, encompasses a suite of products:

  • Intellia Instructor: The software platform that allows instructors to create learning paths, inject faults into exercises, view trainees through the operator view camera and monitor student progress through detailed reporting features.
  • Intellia Drone View: Provides a multitude of viewpoints within simulated exercises. Trainers can observe trainees through an avatar walking around the virtual job site, flying by drone or even underground in subterranean mode.
  • Intellia Training Packs: A comprehensive library of heavy equipment training packs that feature self-guided, progressive learning programs and simulation for boom trucks, and crawler, rough terrain, flat top tower and luffing tower cranes.
  • Intellia Add-On Modules: Optional add-on exercises covering a range of needs, such as advanced safety exercises.

Intellia products can run on CM Labs’ line of simulators, including Trainer, Edge Plus, Edge Max, Advantage, Master and MasterCab

CM Labs also offers its Mobile Training Center to give companies and training institutions flexibility to offer programs on site.
