Flexibility of Vortex Studio Simulation Platform on Display at I/ITSEC 2017, with a Range of Land & Sea Training Solutions

Ground vehicle driver training and maritime vessel simulations among interactive demos at booth 1620

CM Labs Simulations Inc., a global provider of immersive real-time simulation solutions, announced today the solutions to be displayed at booth 1620 during I/ITSEC 2017, November 27-30 in Orlando, Florida.

CM Labs will display the full range of its simulation and visualisation technology, including two simulation-based training systems powered by CM Labs’ Vortex® Studio software platform.

Booth visitors will be able to get behind the wheel of a simulated JLTV on an off-road patrol scenario to experience Vortex Studio’s ground vehicle simulation capabilities. The simulation will run on CM Labs’ immersive Vortex Advantage simulator hardware, with a motion platform that highlights the realism of the Vortex Studio simulation, including the distinct experiences of driving on compact terrain, driving through mud, or fording a river.

Vortex Studio is used globally to support the development of virtual training systems for tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as for logistics and engineering equipment.

A second training system on the booth will allow visitors to experience the realism and immersion delivered by Vortex Studio in the maritime sector. Designed by Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN), the ship bridge simulator will put users at the helm of a small watercraft vessel. Visitors will be tasked with navigating the Milford Haven waterway, UK’s largest energy port.

Showcasing the flexibility and extensibility of Vortex Studio, the simulation is powered by MARIN’s DOLPHIN platform, which combines Vortex Studio’s multibody dynamics engine, desktop applications, and image generator with MARIN’s own hydrodynamics engine.

Attendees can also get an in-depth demonstration of Vortex Studio features and capabilities by visiting the workstation area of the CM Labs booth. Scenarios powered by Vortex Studio will be on display, including an ROV recovery scenario, an LAV III beach landing, a VR-enabled heavy equipment simulation, and more.

Other companies that have used Vortex Studio technology are also displaying at I/ITSEC, including Bohemia Interactive Simulations, Doron Precision Systems, e-Tech Simulation, Lockheed Martin, and VT MAK.

CM Labs recently released the latest version of Vortex Studio, with new features designed to make it even easier to create simulation-based training applications. The free Vortex Studio Essentials Edition has been downloaded hundreds of times in less than a year.

Attendees are invited to visit CM Labs booth 1620 to learn more.
